My Story
A musician is a mixture of influences, and growing up in Houston exposed me to all of the music that the Gulf Coast of Texas has to offer. From blues, country, rockabilly, to Tejano and beyond–music was everywhere and I like to think that it all makes it into my playing.
Performing in the clubs and Dance Halls in Texas was a learning experience for sure, but it wasn’t until I moved to Nashville that the education really began. I learned more in the first year that I played the Honky Tonks on Nashville’s Lower Broadway than I had in the 10 years that I had been playing previously.
During my 12 years in Nashville, I had so many amazing experiences, but there were a few that I’m especially proud of. I had the honour of gracing the famed stage of the Grand Ole Opry and was invited many times to share my musical story and demonstrate the upright bass at the home of country music in Nashville–the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Most importantly, I got to share the stage with some of my musical heroes and learn from the best.
Nashville was like no other place on Earth, but life’s funny sometimes and I now find myself halfway around the world in Sydney, Australia looking forward to the next chapter in my musical journey.
